Artist of the Month
In 1955, Seth Buchman was born into a family of artists. He painted and sculpted from an early age under the tutelage of his grand uncle, Ted Wahrman, who taught at the Brooklyn Museum of Art. At school, Seth was in the studio several hours every day from the fifth grade until he finished high school at Brooklyn Poly Prep studying under Myron Wright with summer courses at the Museum of Modern Art in Manhattan. He continued his art education at Hobart College.
“I chose a life of service and became a trial lawyer,” he says. “Now, in my sixties. I want to focus on art, again. I want to express some of what I have experienced in life. The two paintings on display at White Caps are “Irises” which is about appreciating the beauty God put into our lives, and, “Sinking Ship”, which is about the moments of loneliness.”
